hard to see highlights when channel list doesn't fit on the screen

Description
I've got a pretty small screen (1280x768) and because of that my tabs no longer all fit on the screen (either horizontally or vertically). This makes it very hard to see when there is something going on in a tab that I can't see.
I'm not sure what the best solution for this is. One thing that would help is if I could make the font for the tabs a lot smaller, or if smuxi could bubble tabs with activity to the top.
